SAN MARCO SUPPORTS THE VACAMORA, RANDONNEE FOR VINTAGE BIKE
The timeless charm of vintage bikes was attracting again hundreds of participants to the “Vaca Mora” – the randonnée for vintage bike – supported by Selle San Marco since the first edition, which was held in 2009.
A bond that grows stronger year after year, thanks to the common values shared with the Vintage brand, the original saddles that made San Marco famous, that are produced in Italy in the same way they were in the past.
The original event took place last weekend in Italy on the Asiago Plateau, where cyclists and tourists had the opportunity to spend two days as they were in another era.
Not only to participate you need vintage bikes that are at least twenty-five years old, but also the suggested clothing is strictly vintage: old wool dusted off jerseys or for the younger new unmistakable retro style dresses. On Saturday the streets of Asiago have been crowded by these unusual cyclists, that besides rode the time-trial cycling parade visit the stands of the theme village, where San Marco was also present with its booth full of products dedicated to the lovers of classic style.
The key moment of the event took place the next day, with the 5th edition of the randonnée which was also valid as the 9th round of the “Giro d’italia d’Epoca” for vintage bikes. Three courses proposals in the marvellous Asiago mountain high plateau landscape through valleys, forests and running on the intact old train road, the same one of the old “Vacamora” train. This dialect term meant “black cow” when the small mountain trains were puffing black smoke about one century ago during their race through valleys and mountains. They retired begin of Sixties of past century: rails have been taken away and some of these charming white paths will be run on bicycles in a wonderful landscape between 1000 and 1100 meters high on Asiago plateau.
